Viognier

People refer to our delightful Viognier as “sunshine in a bottle!” Only 2 acres of our Finley Vineyard, Viognier is a white wine known for its inviting bouquet. It presents tantalizing flavors of apricot, peach, lemon, and honeysuckle. This is our only wine to age in stainless steel instead of oak, preserving the delicate flavors and crisp acids of this delicious Rhone varietal. Lovely alongside flavorful chicken or fish entrees! Cheese pairings include: White Stilton with Apricots, Fiscalini San Joaquin Gold, Cypress Grove Midnight Moon.

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is exclusive to our Gravel Ridge Vineyard. It is barrel fermented, both primary and malolactic fermentations, in primarily neutral French oak barrels, aging sur lie for 10 months. Rich and golden in color, its fruity nose gives way to crisp apple, Asian pear, and citrus undertones on the palate. It compliments California seafood and many poultry dishes. Cheese pairings include: Triple Cream Brie, Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog, or Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam.

cooper-garrod winePinot Noir

Two vineyards sport our Pinot Noir vines: George’s Vineyard and Finley Vineyard, both planted with clone 777. These two lots are combined for bottling, reflected in the “Two Vineyards” designation on our label. The wine spends 10 months in French oak, resulting in an elegant, smooth palate often evoking strawberries and tea leaves. It pairs well with duck, Portobello mushrooms, or light and airy Gougeres. Cheese pairings include: Camembert, Point Reyes Toma, or Red Leicester.

cooper-garrod wineCabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc, hailing from our Francville Vineyard, is medium-bodied and luscious, evoking rich raspberry, brown spices, and briar notes. It ages 10 months in French oak and is a wonderfully versatile wine for food pairing! Enjoy it with fruity poultry dishes, pork tenderloin, lamb, or beef with bernaise. Cheese pairings include: Port Salut, Sini Fulvi Pecorino Romano, or Manchego.

cooper-garrod wineSyrah

Syrah flourishes in our Finley Vineyard! The wine ages 10 months in French oak and pours a deep, purple-red in your glass. Notes of deep-red fruit and violets are found on the nose with red fruit and smoked meats on the palate. It is excellent with barbecued ribs, brisket, “wild” meats and heartier dishes! Cheese pairings include: Aged Gouda, Blue Cheese, or Vella Dry Jack.

cooper-garrod wineCabernet Sauvignon

Three Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards soak up the sun on our property. The first-planted, and smallest, is George’s Vineyard, which we bottle as its own vineyard-designate wine. Lone Oak and Valley View vineyards are often combined for the Two Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon label, though some vintages lend themselves to separate labels. All our Cab Sauv is aged 22 months in French oak, then a few more years of bottle aging so you encounter a smoother mouth feel along with flavors of cherries, plums, cassis, cocoa powder, and cedar edges. Savor this lovely wine with London broil, filet mignon, or your favorite grilled meats. Cheese pairings include: Comte, Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, or Young Mahon Mitica.

cooper-garrod wineMerlot

We farm four rows of Merlot – 1 acre – in our Finley Vineyard. It is primarily a component of our Test Pilot Blends. But! For those years with a bountiful harvest, we have been known to produce a very small lot as a single varietal Merlot! This wine also ages 10 months in French oak and frequently features flavors of cherries, chocolate-covered raspberries, and a woodsy note at the edges before a smooth finish. It is lovely alongside beef medallions with rosemary sauce or onion confit. Cheese pairings include: Livarot, Aged Gruyere, or Pont l’Eveque.

“Favorite winery I have ever been to. Their wine was excellent, their service was wonderful, and the atmosphere is quaint, yet beautiful. The rural feel reminds me of home. Can’t recommend this place enough.”

– Jake –

“Beautiful family-owned winery up in the hills! The patio is nice & shaded, and the tables are spread out for covid times. The employees are so kind & knowledgeable as well. Most importantly, the wine is delicious! We’ll definitely be back soon.”

– Carly –

“Pleasant afternoon in a most genial and accommodating environment sampling home produced wines. No pretence, the wines are good quality and very easy on the palate. Cheese, cured meat and varieties of crackers available to accompany the wine.”

“We are members here and love coming up for a free tasting flight. It feels like you’ve left the city hundreds of miles behind and you’re out in the country, peaceful and quiet. In non-covid times we have put our kids on a trail ride with their horses while we enjoyed the tasting room. For now, the patio is open for tastings and on Sundays, lunch or nibbles, with masks and distancing. I enjoy their two vineyard red blends. All the wine blends have names related to the aviation industry.”
